Jira Menu — Privacy Policy

Purpose

Jira Menu customizes the Jira Cloud app switcher by showing or hiding selected apps and existing custom links and making the menu more compact.

Information handled

The extension reads the app-switcher structure, app labels and custom-link labels and URLs on supported sites where it has permission to run. Custom-link labels and URLs may contain information supplied by your organization.

It stores the following in Chrome's local extension storage on your device:
- Whether menu cleanup is enabled and your app visibility preferences.
- Site origins, such as https://example.atlassian.net, for configured sites. When you add a full Jira page URL, only its origin is saved in the site list; the path, query and fragment are discarded.
- Discovered custom-link labels, full destination URLs, associated site origins and visibility preferences. These destination URLs are retained as provided by the menu.

This information is used only to provide the menu customization features. The extension does not record a history of pages visited, log your clicks or keystrokes, or intentionally collect account credentials, ticket contents, messages, payment details or health information.

Storage, transmission and sharing

The extension uses local storage, not Chrome sync storage. It does not transmit the stored information to the developer or an external server. It has no analytics, advertising or tracking service. The developer does not sell, share or use this information for advertising, creditworthiness or lending decisions.

Following an existing menu link opens its destination normally; that website operates under its own privacy policy. Chrome Web Store and browser services also operate under their respective policies.

Permissions

Storage saves your local preferences and discovered links. Scripting registers bundled menu-cleanup scripts on additional sites you approve. Site access lets those scripts read and modify the app switcher. The package includes access to ctxmena.atlassian.net. Additional HTTPS hosts require your explicit approval when added. The optional permission declaration permits requesting individual hosts; it does not automatically grant access to all websites.

All executable code is bundled with the extension. No remotely hosted code is downloaded or executed.

Your controls and retention

You can change visibility preferences or turn off menu cleanup in the extension popup. Turning cleanup off restores menu visibility but does not delete saved data or stop custom-link discovery while the extension remains active on a permitted page.

You can disable the extension or revoke its site access through Chrome's extension settings. Reload already open Jira tabs afterward. Revoking site access does not itself erase previously stored custom links or preferences.

Saved preferences and discovered links can remain locally until the extension's storage is cleared or the extension is uninstalled. Links are not automatically removed from local storage merely because they disappear from a site's menu. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage from that browser profile.

Limited use

Jira Menu's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide its stated menu-customization purpose.
